Money Heist Season 5: Release Date & Details

Is Money Heist Season 5 confirmed?

In short, yes. Netflix would literally be throwing money down the drain if they didn’t press on with one of their most popular originals of all-time.

To some surprise, Money Heist even pipped cult-hit Tiger King in a quarantine streaming tug-of-war during the month of April, copping 65 million viewers to Tiger King’s 64 million over the same period of time.

What will the fifth season of Money Heist be about?

The international Netflix phenomenon, Money Heist (also known as La Casa De Papel), is officially returning for a fifth and final season on Netflix in 2021. Here’s the latest and everything we know so far about Money Heist season 5, including the path to renewal, its potential release date, production updates, and why we won’t be getting a season 6.

Has Money Heist been renewed for season 5?

It took an eternity, but Netflix officially acknowledged that season 5 of Money Heist is coming in August 2020. Sadly, they also confirmed that “the heist comes to an end” meaning that season 5 will be the final installment of the hit Spanish series.

Money Heist spoilers follow.

Money Heist season four (La casa de papel) ramped up the action and added more bloodshed than all three previous seasons combined.

Fans might have expected the season four finale to follow the same format as season two, neatly wrapping up the heist after just two seasons. But nothing seems to have gone to plan this time around, and the gang have been forced to buy themselves a bit more time.

When can we expect a season 5 release date?

That means season four ends on a cliffhanger, which left the door wide open for a potential Money Heist season five.

And thankfully, Netflix has confirmed it's happening.

On Friday, July 31, Netflix announced Money Heist would be returning for a fifth – and final – season, saying "the heist will come to an end".

White Lines, however, wasn't so lucky.
